My Junior year I began to really indulge more on marketing and journalism more than anything. Above there is a graphic that demonstrates how one of my classes taught me the proper way to display analytics and the importance of them. By working within a team, this exercise also taught me the importance of sharing ideas and displaying them properly. More than anything, this exercise helped with the understanding on how brands grow, what audiences want to see, the different audiences there are, and much more. Though I didn't know it at the time, this assignment would help me now with my current job as I oversee analytics and marketing.
Journalism was another thing I learned throughout this year. During this time, I began to have classes at the actual school of journalism in Old Main. I had a fair share of understanding when it came to knowing what was social media worthy, but learning what was news worthy was a whole other ballpark. Throughout my time in the course, I further expanded my interview skills, writing skills and people skills. With journalism, you need to know the exact information because false information comes at a large price. Still I learned it can be hard to acquire all the information that you want because of how fast press conferences and interviews tend to be which is why you need to make the questions you ask count. Overall, I enjoy the course because of the writing element and being able to get a real world view on what path I may be on.
Junior year was one of the hardest academic years I'd say I had so far. From learning all new things to improving on skills I already had, it definitely challenged me the most.
