Ashley's Senior Year

Course Work

Although this year is still not over, the courses that I am currently taking have taught me a lot of what to expect when it comes to being involved with Digital Media Innovations. With this course, I am furthering my knowledge on website design and coding. I have had prior experience but it has been a while since I had to work with code. This project has taught me the importance of attention to detail because code is very specific in if it will present. A mistake will not be as forgiving with public code versus local files. The picture presented is from my media design class where we had to use typography to express the meaning of a word. In this picture I used the word push and made the motion of the 2 last letters being pushed. I really enjoyed working on this assignment because it taught me less is more.

I am excited to see how the year continues to be and what more I am able to learn from my courses. I want to make the most of these two final semesters with my graduation being in the spring or summer.

Student Recreation Center

Digital design of the Rec Fest After Dark event with location, time and direction

On the right is a digital design I made for the Student Recreation Center Rec Fest After Dark event. There's a certain image that they wanted and that was a retro neon signage. I used Adobe Illustrator to create this design and although it was a lot of trial and error, I was glad that my design was ultimately chosen. Coming onto the team at a time where this big event was happening, I was intimidated by it and did not know if I was able to be on par with the team's skills. I managed to get used to the Texas State brand pretty quickly and then when this came around I really put my new skills to the test. The more time I spend working there, the more I understand what a potential career I can have. I can't wait to see what else my future has in store!
